After several speculations, the making of the biopic of Srilankan star cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan is confirmed. Kollywood superstar Vijay Sethupathi will reprise the role of the spin legend in the yet to be titled biopic of spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan.
Vijay Sethupathi confirms the news and says that he is looking forward to playing the role of iconic sportsman like Muralitharan. He said that he is happy to play his role in the biopic of Muttiah Muralitharan. He further stated “Muralitharan is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin and someone who has made his mark across the world. I’m delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the project and guiding me on the cricketing aspects.”
The shooting of the movie will start at the end of 2019 and will be directed by Sripathy Rangasamy.

The legendary biopic will be bankrolled by Bahubali star Rana Daggubati under his banner Suresh Productions and co-produced by Dar Media P Ltd. Mumbai Production house, Dar Motion pictures will produce a south film for the first time.
The film will release on multiple languages Hindi, Tamil Telugu and Malayalam.
Talking about his collaboration with Dar Media P Ltd Rana Daggubati said that he will associate with Dar Media P Ltd to reprise the story of star cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan through a legendary actor Vijay Sethupathi.
Talking about the making of his biopic, Muttiah Muralitharan reveals that “We are looking at a late 2020 release. I am honored that an accomplished actor such as Vijay Sethupathi will be playing me in the film. I have been actively collaborating with the creative team for the past several months. He promised to support this project in the future as well”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Vijay Sethupathi is busy in several other projects. Having lots of films in his kitty, Vijay has just finished the shooting of Vijay Chander’s Sanga Tamizhan. Currently, he is busy in the shooting for upcoming movie Laabam along with Shruti Haasan directed by SP Jananathan’s.
Last seen in Tamil movie Sindhubaadh, Vijay has recently signed his second Telugu film “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” along with Vaishnav Tej and superstar Chiranjeevi.
