After the revocation of Article 370 in Kashmir, on 08-08-2018 Pakistan banned the screening of Indian cinemas in their theaters. Bollywood reacts to Pakistan banning Indian films after Article 370 revocation in Kashmir

Pakistani special advisor for  Information and Broadcasting” Firdous Ashiq Awan, tweeted that “No Indian film will be screened in any Pakistani theatre. Drama, films and Indian content of this kind will be completely banned in Pakistan,”

A day after Pakistan banned the Indian film, Bollywood reacted to their decision. Indian Film fraternity said that this will not affect Indian Cinema, In Fact, it is their loss.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, chief advisor of FWICE  (Federation of Western India Cine Employees ) said that  “It does not make any difference whether Pakistanis watch our films or not. I think the internal security of the country comes first. Whether films release there or not is irrelevant. We have a clear issue in front of us.”

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood said that banning Indian films is their loss, not ours. Revocation of article 370 is a good thing to happen. Sonu had once done a cameo role in Pakistani movie Ishq Positive.

National award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is not surprised by their reaction. He said “ they have to take a grandstanding in front of their people because Article 370 has been abolished. The film industry has shown solidarity since Pulwama.”

However, trade analyst Komal Nahta said to IANS that from the business point of view, It will affect the Indian box-office.

It is not the first time that Pakistan banned the Indian Cinema. Before this in February after the  Balakot airstrikes by India Pakistan did the same thing.

After Pulwama terror attack on 14th Feb this year, the Indian Government stop releasing their films in Pakistan.

On 5th August 2019, Indian Government abolished Article 370 of the Constitution which gives Kashmir special power to make their own decision ( allowing it to have a separate constitution, a state flag, and autonomy over the internal administration of the state) and bifurcated into two Union Territories –Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
